Thank you for taking the time to find out more about me on a personal level. I truly appreciate diligence with which folks have approached their thoughts on the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the moderator journey. While online interactions can only offer a glimpse the whole person, I hope that I have provided enough information for you to get a basic understanding of who I am as a person and pastor. You can also see some of my other pages: Denominational Highlights, Media/Press and my 11 Blog Posts to get to to know me better.

PERSONAL BIO
An ordained minister since 1995, this 30-something California native is
the founding pastor of Mission Bay Community Church.
Bruce's formative years were spent in Sacramento and Stockton where he was truly raised by a family and church village. The grandson of Filipino and Chinese immigrants, Bruce's home church is Trinity Presbyterian Church in Stockton where he was taught the importance of tradition and heritage, service and social justice and the imperative to live one life with a deep sense of gratitude for the reconciling nature of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He graduated from San Francisco State University with a special major in Asian American Studies, Sociology, and Religion in 1990 and from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1995. He has served the Presbyterian Church (USA) at all levels over the years as a preacher, worship leader and keynoter.
As the main speaker / preacher / talking head at MBCC, Bruce believes that a good message is one that is relevant, compelling, and creates an emotional and intellectual connection between life and faith. He is firmly convicted that life is chaotic and that the key to finding security amidst the chaos is not to put life in a rigidly controlled box, but to embrace and claim God's presence in the ambiguity--a difficult way to live, but a way that honors the authenticity of our lives and strengthens our relationship with God.
As Bruce engages in this journey to be elected as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) he believes that his experience bridging generations, worldviews and church cultures will uniquely enable him to facilitate conversations that may lead to substantive individual and corporate transformation.
At least he hopes so.
Bruce has lived in San Francisco since 1989 after growing up in Sacramento and Stockton. He now lives in the Sunnyside district of San Francisco with his wife since 1990, Elder Robin Pugh; and three daughters, Evelyn, Abigail, and Analise. His free time is filled with hanging out in cafes, cheering on those awesome Oakland Athletics, riding his motorcycle whenever he gets a chance and he has been know to blog and hang out on Facebook on occasion ;-)
